A good leadership theory that can be applied to the problem of domestic violence is that of transformational leadership. This is a kind of leadership approach that leads to constructive changes in those who utilize it. Transformational leaders are usually lively, passionate and fervent. Not only are these leaders worried about and caught up in the process; they are also centered on assisting every person in the group to succeed (Cherry, 2011).

There are four dissimilar workings of transformational leadership:

Intellectual motivation -- transformational leaders not only confront the status quo; they also persuade ingenuity among those involved. The leader persuades those involved to discover new manners of doing things and new occasions to learn.

Individualized deliberation -- transformational leadership also entails providing support and encouragement to the people involved. In order to promote compassionate associations, transformational leaders keep the lines of communication open so that those involved feel...

Inspirational drive -- transformational leaders have an apparent idea that they are capable to communicate to those involved. These leaders are also capable to assist people experience the same fervor and inspiration to accomplish these objectives.
4. Idealized authority -- the transformational leader serves as a role model for those involved. Because people trust and admire the leader, they imitate the leader and internalize their principles (Cherry, 2011).

If efforts to end violence against women and children are to be successful, quality leadership is required. The directors and administrators of the agencies that are in place to help these people must be well equipped to manage organizations, advocate for change in policy and law, and hold a clear understanding of the things in society that allows violence to continue (Transforming Leadership through Education, 2008).
